Library

The library is situated on the second floor of the Knut Hamsun Centre. This is where the Hamsun collection is located. You can find different editions of Hamsun’s works, translations and literature about Hamsun. The goal is to build up a collection that encompasses everything written by and about Hamsun, and we are already well on the way to achieving this. It is not normally possible to loan the books, but you may read them in the library.

The library also features areas to sit and relax, work areas with internet access and computers to search databases. The library comprises a combination of library interior and art installation made by Stenberg/Sørensen. There is direct access from the library to the famous “empty violin case” balcony from where you can take pleasure in the view and sound installation made by Jana Winderen.
